It was a good, but unexpected move by airtel. (this post is much before that)

PS :: IPAD 3 ISN'T RELEASED IN INDIA YET .

Aakash and iPad3 are miles apart in technical aspects, and also in price. but both are much above the limit of usefullness. one underperforms whereas the other overperforms. Tell me, you need to check mail, watch movie, listen to some music, and play little games (the avg. calculation). and you are a middle-class individual (about the 60% Indian), would you mind shelling out 33,500 for iPad or 18,000 for Kindle fire.? I did not underestimate the iPad. They are one of the best in the world, but always remain for the "deep-pocketed" people and not all others. Even apple was never interested in selling devices in India owing to poor telecom infrastructure compared to US. Even it's app store doesn't handle out some apps to Indians. some services which work best on iPad like Netflix isn't there in India (do not support pirated movies, for gods sake!)

Do you know that refurbhised iPhone 4 sells for 20k in india where as a brand new iPhone 4S retails for around 12k in the US and other "apple-friendly" countries. Can you get me some apps for free in 1536p resolution, downloadable in India? it will take years for content in India to grow more "apple-friendly". i didn't find much sense in shelling 10k more to read e-books at 1536p. for the difference, you can get a new tablet for yourself!!.

Wake up dear Romika, give your senses a jig. Everything that glitters isn't gold. That what I highlighted in my post. You need not spend 30-40k for devices which deliver the same entertainment that others at lower prices do. Economics are important. You just can't throw away money because its new and advanced. Embracing technology should be from your side and not by the Manufacturers. Finally, Android does have killer apps. go to Google Play and download some for yourself to know the ease. You seem immature in relating technology to economics.Be logical before analysing.

And finally, do not compare Android with iOS. Ask any developer and he will support Android, which will overtake iOS soon in the coming months. you seem to be a fiercely loyal fan to the compact Apple environs. Wake up to see a much better world.

Re: 5 Reasons Why iPad 3 would be the most dumb tablet in India

Some FYI pointers for you:

4G LTE is already in India. You must be aware that Airtel has spent close to two billion in buying licenses for 4g and has already announced services in Kolkata. If one telecom giant has spent this amount, don't you think the others will soon follow as there is enough money floating in the market to launch such services in India.
1536p content, where the hell will you find it in the US? Its not for watching movies but to experience your pictures and ebooks at a resolution only a few displays can match. If you want to experience something similar on another device be prepared to shell out upwards of Rs. 3,00,000 on the display alone!

Full HD 1080p recording: Trying getting a DSLR for less than Rs. 40,000 buck with a lens that will allow you to stabilize footage like the ipad 3 can. Also, try editing on the same camera without breaking your head over 3 million codecs!

Price:
Price of an ipad3 16GB = Rs. 33,500 (4G, 2K screen, 1080p Recording, Quad core graphics, dual core processor, 1 GB Ram)
Price of the cheapest Zync tablet = Rs. 6,000 (960x540 screen, VGA Recording, 1 Ghz single core processor, 128 Ram)
Price of a Kindle Fire = Rs. 18,000 (1Ghz dual core processor, 720p screen, 512 Ram, 8GB storage)
Price of a Nook = Rs. 14,500 (single core processor, 512 Ram, 4GB storage)
Price of Aakash = Rs. 3000 (700 MGhz processor, 256 Ram, 2GB storage, 800x480 screen, 180 min battery!)

Since you say that you have a 'deep-rooted passion for technology and science' kindly do the math and decide who gives a better value for money?

I see you find Aakash comparable to an iPad and think it will serve as something better than a touchscreen photo frame, but I implore you tell me what the hell will you run on any of these android tablets when all the cool apps are on the ipad (Are there really any tablet apps for android?)
Also, consider how long will your Android tablet last with simple as basic as your wifi switched on all day!
Aakash comes with Android 2.3, there is no upgrade path to ICS while even the 3 year old iPad 1 still got the latest iOS update.

Re: Adieu IIT-JEE , after screwing students over 6 decades.

Prakash, thats a true and a highly possible scenario you have described, I too believe ISEET has to be scrapped after weighing the pros and cons of JEE vs ISEET. Infact, its not a heartening news to discuss, but many of the quota students entering via JEE have entered through cheating in JEE. getting a measly score of around 100 is a easy thing in the objective entrance of today, and coaching heavyweights leave no stone unturned in getting more "number of seats" for their institutes by taking care of the exam centres in underprivileged areas.Strict vigilance over 5.2 Lakh is a godly task. Though I also agree that not all are cheats. Many are hardworking guys and you can spot them easily. They carry that certain aura with them, this is a dent in JEE, but still it brings out the best from students atleast.
ISEET can never replace JEE.

Re: Adieu IIT-JEE , after screwing students over 6 decades.

If this article is going to be read by Kapil Sibal and I am sure that it would, Then I want that he should read also this thing written below. And not just mine all the other such type of comments or article or whatever you call. Because this is not just me, this is what a iitian thinks. This is what a student want. This is the voice in every heart of a JEE aspirant. We Don't Need More Service Of Politocians For Students Affairs.

These politician needs to think properly. IIT-JEE is not a toy of their hands that they can do with it whatever they want. It is dream of 5 lacs students of India. 5 lacs hardworking students, those who have invested years to prepare for this, just for these 6 hours. The new exam ISEET they are replacing JEE with is just a total mindless idea. In this exam student is preparing he would not know where he is going. If he wanted to go some IIT college and got another having respect equal to nothing in front of IIT he is kind of screwed. At least in JEE he can think of level of hardworking and fix his aim. In India JEE has it's own reputation and outside the country also. Today JEE is not just an Entrance Exam. It's a height of talent. It's a mark and a monument for all the engineering students. And ISEET what they are bringing for poor students. It is to be said by politicians that by coaching rich students can easily be selected in this examination. And poor student don't have money to pay for this, so their chances is very less than the others. Then should know that these coaching do not give extra talent to be an iitian. They just polish this a bit. And all responsibility of selection in the Exam is of student himself. That's make no difference between rich and poor people.Because A talent only achieved by a person himself not by some coaching. This new system has a number of drawbacks. As including marks of 12th class. They should know that anybody can easily cheat in the paper, during the examination and after the examination. A duplicate mark sheet can easily be gotten within hours by spending some money. And what they are doing to make place for poor people is more or less a policy to get more votes and attention of people towards them. They are not doing it first time. Earlier also they have tried it with reservation a soft target of common man of India. Now we can see It's result as 49.5% reservation in JEE seats. Now a student needs to get above 50% or nearly 55% to just get selected and other student can get a decent college in just 40% marks.
They should know that a student is identified by his cast, not by that he is rich or poor. A student is identified by his creative mind, by his flawless hard work by his strong determination, and by his talent. If they are helping students illogically and by unfair methods they are just cheating. They are making work of JEE more difficult. What JEE is doing, It is searching talented students for crowd. It will work more efficiently and better we leave JEE as it is. It is a highly acceptable Exam in India and outside world also.
A only solution is to restore JEE with no new condition and by taking it's control back from politician and give it to IIT commite. Because a politician can think crap thing to do. He knows utilizing things for his own purpose Don't even think about anyone else. Nobody before needed to do this. Nobody before questioned upon the way of working of JEE. And now suddenly a person has appeared who thinks that JEE should be replaced. It's just not a practicle It is a dream, Dream of 5 lacs students. not rich not poor, not reserved not non reserved Just students. And IIT is the city of such talented students. They are saying that they want to improve JEE level. They want to improve Engineering level. First they should improve our school system properly. By applying some arbit laws such as no one will be failed before 8 class and Removing the board exam system in 10 class. If they learn somehow the abcd of this education system Then they should start working on it.

Re: Adieu IIT-JEE , after screwing students over 6 decades.

Arvind say someone looses a IIT seat in Delhi and he finds out many from bihar have got in to IIT & there was massive paper leaks of XII board exam. what will you tell such a guy ? what if he is your real brother ?

Re: Adieu IIT-JEE , after screwing students over 6 decades.

Restoring JEE back is the only option left. It certainly adds pressures from various fronts, but as the rule goes "survival of the fittest", and IIT's are deemed to get the fittest and not the weaker species.

Re: Adieu IIT-JEE , after screwing students over 6 decades.

The IIT-JEE was ditched, or more politely, dragged to closure by the open-minded (is it really?) Kapil Sibal but in all fairness to the upcoming candidates, did he think about the additional stress it would place on the students in terms of being ahead of time in their school syllabus as well? Does he really know how the State Boards conduct their exams?
I think, with this new placed importance on school syllabus, the State Boards will start becoming more and more lenient in terms of their exams, for the sole purpose of having more number of students from their state in the top institutes.
This new "brainwave" of Mr. Sibal is simply an opportunity for political superpowers of the states of India to express their authority over the other states (read AP and Rajasthan) in terms of education, rather than benefitting the students and the IITs.

Nice article this one, and I still hope Mr. Sibal changes his mind and follow the beautiful paths of history by putting the JEE back in its place!

Re: 7 Best Alternatives to Feedburner and Why you should be using them.

I am glad to know about your discovery!, It was an older post of mine, which I repackaged again. :)

Re: 7 Best Alternatives to Feedburner and Why you should be using them.

that's very useful information. i was looking for an alternative for feedburner.

Re: 5 Reasons Why iPad 3 would be the most dumb tablet in India

Nice critique.

Re: Aakash Tablet : Success or Scam?
